High temperature issues in drilling rigs typically manifest in three areas: gearbox temperature, hydraulic oil temperature, and engine cooling liquid temperature. Gearbox overheating is generally attributed to non-standard bearing or gear dimensions, housing irregularities, or substandard oil quality.
Excessive hydraulic oil temperature primarily results from rapid heat generation and inadequate heat dissipation. Common causes include:
